Since I work up in Broomfield I try to escape work for an hour and play this course, a couple of times a week if I'm lucky, during my lunch break. Especially if I don't think I'll get to stop by the Badlands on my way home.
Interlocken East Park has a nice, easy 9 hole course. I think of it as a practice course. Most of the shots are less than 300 ft. There are no tee pads and basket #2 was removed a couple of weeks ago. Probably because it sits right next to a BBQ pavillion and sometimes there are people hanging around. Not a scene you want to rip your disc into. I just throw to #6 instead.
There is a fast flowing canal running through parts of the course but it doesn't come into play much. The only real water hazard would be if you overthrow on 5 or maybe shanked it really bad on 8. You want to stay left on 5 too, or your disc could end up in a swampy little creek, or, I suppose if the wind really had it in for you, could possibly send your disc out onto US 36 eastbound. And that would be bad.
It's not unusual for other people to be out playing the course. Which, considering the location, sort of surprised me at first. Be forewarned, baskets 5 and 6 play through a soccer field. Most of the time the soccer goals are 'put away' down by 4 and I've never seen anyone out there playing soccer but it's bound to happen so maybe avoid this course on a weekend day.
All in all it is a fun, fast, and often shady course that you can play while eating a sandwich and a bag of chips.
Here is a link to the map and some pics I borrowed from the Broomfield Parks & Rec dept. website.

Ronnie, feel free to use this map on the site if you feel like it. By the way, it was good to meet you the other day. |
