I've been asked how Lakewood Dry Gulch Park got it's name. No not because it's in Lakewood. The reason Denver calls the park Lakewood Dry Gulch is, Because Lakewood Gulch Creek and Dry Gulch Creek meet at hole 17 and become one. Lakewood Gulch Creek having the most volume of water gets top billing. So they named the park Lakewood Dry Gulch not Dry Lakewood Gulch. So begins the legend of Lakewood Dry Gulch Disc Golf Course ( aka PACO ).

So every time I play Paco I end up with an OB discussion with the other players in the group. Is the sidewalk OB? Is the other side OB? Will it be OB for the Denver Classic? Is one side OB with placements A and B and the other side when it's in C (that one is in regards to hole 4)? Is the other side of the creek OB? Will the other side of the creek be OB on hole 8 when in the long position?
It goes on and on. You get the idea.

The signs show no OB exept on the path on #13, and in the creek, of course.

How have you been playing it? Our group of 6 last night, by majority rules, played all cement paths OB with the other side OB exept 4 and 10.

Ronnie, I think it would be a good idea to go over some of the OB's and how the course will be played for the Denver Classic so it can be practiced that way. Thanks.

Here's my interpret on the tee signs. First I'll state the obvious and then what the sign says.
Hole # 1 The parking lot and Dirt area of softball field are O.B. And the sign says the railroad tracks. If you break the plan of the track which include the wooden ties you are out of bounds.
Hole # 2 The street and the railroad tracks are out of bounds.
Hole # 3 The sign says the stream is out of bounds Which includes anything left of stream.
Hole # 4 The basketball court and the stream to far right is O.B.
Hole # 5 The sign says the stream is out of bounds which includes everything to the right of the stream.
Hole # 6 The street and the stream are O.B.
Hole # 7 The sign says the street is O.B. And the stream is O.B. which includes anything to the right EXCEPT when the basket is in pin A.
Hole # 8 The sign says Railroad tracks are O.B. and the stream is O.B.which includes anything left of stream. When the basket is in pin A the left side of the stream and a line up past the manhole to the picnic table is O.B.
Hole # 9 The street is out of bounds.
Hole # 10 The street and any private property is O.B. The sign says stream O.B.
Hole # 11 Any private property is O.B.
Hole # 12 The street and the railroad tracks are O.B.
Hole # 13 The sign says the path is O.B. anything that breaks the plan is out of bounds.
Hole # 14 The railroad tracks to far left are O.B.
Hole # 15 The street is O.B. and the sign says the railroad tracks and anything left of the tracks is O.B. The stream is O.B.
Hole # 16 The street and the stream are O.B. Anything right of the stream is O.B.
Hole # 17 The stream is O.B. and the sign says the playground is O.B. Which includes anything right of stream.
Hole # 18 The street and the stream are O.B. Which includes anything left of stream.
Well that the way I see it. But these are street rules. PDGA SAYS YOUR WHOLE DISC MUST BE SURROUNDED TO BE OUT OF BOUNDS!!!

You can always play by your own rules for ob. If you want to mak ethe course play harder make the sidewalks on and beyond ob. Make anything not on the basket side of the creek ob. You have the ability to make your rounds as easy as possible or as hard as possible.

just curious how you see it and how it will be played at the Denver Classic. I've played with 2 different groups of 6, both played OB differently.
so for casual play it looks like we just need to clear up how ob will be played before the round.

Here is a link to a new map of Pacos:

Download PDF document: (right click and Save As)

Also, I hear tell that the back (weedy) part of Pacos has been now mowed.
